Learning a language is no simple feat.

High school language courses are an excellent opportunity for your student to learn a language and connect with a new culture. Yet few students obtain proficient speaking and reading abilities in a foreign language by the end of high school.

 

Our foreign language tutors at ThinquePrep recognize that persistence and consistency are key to gaining fluency. Our one-on-one personalized foreign language tutoring sessions provide a safe space for students to practice speaking, ask questions, and gain exposure to the way foreign languages are actually spoken. 

We make language learning accessible. Our tutors will cover:

  • Vocabulary:

    • Basic Vocabulary: Greetings, numbers, days of the week, family, school, etc.

    • Thematic Vocabulary: Food, travel, health, emotions, work, etc.

  • Grammar:

    • Verb Conjugations: Present, past, future tenses, subjunctive mood, and irregular verbs.

    • Pronouns: Subject pronouns, object pronouns, possessive pronouns.

    • Sentence Structure: Word order, questions, negations, and compound sentences.

    • Adjectives and Adverbs: Agreement, placement, and comparative/superlative forms.

  • Reading and Writing:

    • Reading Comprehension: Short stories, articles, or dialogues to practice understanding the language.

    • Writing: Composing letters, essays, and summaries.

    • Translation: Translating texts between the target language and English.

  • Listening and Speaking:

    • Listening: Understanding spoken language through audio clips, conversations, or videos.

    • Speaking: Engaging in conversations, practicing pronunciation, and dialogues.

  • Cultural Understanding:

    • Customs and Traditions: Learning about the culture(s) of the language, including holidays, food, and history.

    • Cultural Context: Exploring literature, art, music, and films in the target language.
